Fixing some of the “broken windows” in Tettra
timestamp1479863280001
We’ve been intently listening to feedback from our customers over the past few months and found that there were a lot of smaller issues that were piling up. No single issue was show-stopping, but we saw them coming up over and over.
For most product teams, it’s hard to know when to tackle these types of issues since there’s always some shiny new feature to build.
We take great pride in the quality of our product, and believe that over time these small issues add up and have a serious negative effect on the usability of a product. This is often referred to as the “Broken Windows Theory” in product development.
With that in mind, we spent the past few months attacking a lot of these smaller issues and will continue to prioritize them in the future.
Here’s what we’ve been working on
In August, we launched requests to help you collect the knowledge your team wants to know. The reception has been positive, so we’re going to continue to improve requests in the coming weeks and months.
If you have Slack notifications enabled, you’ll now get notifications for requests so that you know when someone has opened or closed a request.
Now anyone can close any request. That way, if you fulfill someone else’s request you can close it right away without any back and forth.
We’re looking into more ways to improve the request feature, so if you have any ideas, leave a note for us, we’d love to hear it.
You can now toggle a category’s visibility. It was a bit annoying before that the visibility couldn’t be changed, so we’ve removed that restriction.
When you click “New Page” while looking at a category, the category will be pre-filled in the sidebar.
You can also now create a new category directly from the editor sidebar instead of having to go to the category settings screen to create one.
Another fun update is that we now have better emoji support across the product.
You can now also update your team and user names to have fun with the emoji update. 😁
Emojis! ✌️
🙌🏾 Bonus People Update! 🙌🏼
Another huge update is that we’ve added two new teammates, Shauni and Oscar!
Both Shauni and Oscar are talented engineers who will help us continue building a company and product we’re proud of.
That’s it for now, thanks again for using Tettra to organize and share knowledge with your team. Let us know what you think of the latest updates and what you’d like to see next by leaving a note below. 🐟
